His career has been defined by leadership roles in global business development, M&A, and management consulting, with a specialised focus on smart technologies and electricity network transformation.

Greg’s journey in the industry led him to spearhead a pioneering initiative to develop a Net Zero capital investment plan for Ellesmere Port in Cheshire, a significant contributor to the UK’s energy consumption. His deep understanding of the energy landscape is complemented by a Ph.D. in electrical engineering.

Currently, Greg’s primary focus as CEO revolves around leveraging his industry knowledge and strategic acumen to drive Third Equation’s mission. He is committed to identifying and executing opportunities that align with our dedication to solving the challenges of a zero carbon power landscape.

Paul Blackburn brings over two decades of engineering excellence and a track record of delivering impactful solutions across the energy sector.

With a foundation in oil and gas, aviation, condition-based maintenance, prognostic health management, and data analytics, Paul has consistently driven energy efficiency through cutting-edge technologies. His experience spans a diverse range of applications, from wind, solar, and marine systems to smart metering, rail, and automotive products.

Paul’s passion lies in creating real, measurable benefits for all stakeholders in the energy ecosystem. He has spent over a decade successfully spearheading growth, project execution, and the development of profitable solutions.

In his current role as CTO at Third Equation, Paul oversees the evolution of our patented ground-breaking power quality and flow management technology. His visionary leadership extends to exploring emerging technologies and concepts to enhance our portfolio of advanced power quality management solutions.

Joyce Ho brings a wealth of financial acumen to Third Equation as a distinguished Chartered Accountant with nearly 15 years of financial services expertise.

Her previous role at Lloyds Banking Group was marked by her ability to deliver compelling financial results to the market and provide invaluable management insights to senior executives. She excelled at nurturing high-performing teams in dynamic, ever-evolving environments.

Joyce’s journey to Third Equation was driven by her unwavering commitment to the future. With training from KPMG and Cook & Co., where she completed her ICAS training, she brings a rich foundation in financial governance.

In her current capacity as Head of Finance & Compliance, Joyce is instrumental in supporting Third Equation’s growth. Her presence in the leadership team during this pivotal phase underscores her enthusiasm for the company’s mission—a journey toward zero carbon electricity solutions with far-reaching benefits for all.

Malcolm Brown, armed with a BSc (Hons) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Strathclyde, embarked on a career journey that has spanned over four decades. His initial roles in design engineering within the defence industry laid the foundation for a remarkable career in project management.

With more than 20 years of experience spanning the entire spectrum of program life cycles, including new product development, production, in-service support, and withdrawal from service, Malcolm has honed his expertise to a fine edge. His global perspective is underscored by collaborations with diverse customers, both national and international.

In his current role as Programme Manager at Third Equation, Malcolm takes on the pivotal responsibility of managing and delivering innovative products and solutions. His unwavering passion is directed towards providing affordable solutions that contribute to the well-being of all and the preservation of our planet.

Mike Fitzpatrick has over 40 years experience in the financial services sector.  Committed to sustainability, Mike and his associated interests have made a range of investments in renewable energy and related technology development. 

Current investments include electric vehicles and high purity quartz for use in silicon manufacture. Mike holds a number of other non-executive directorships, including Infrastructure Capital Group, Carnegie Clean Energy Limited and Latam Autos Limited.  Mike is also a Trustee of the Rhodes Trust.

Donald Weir, a distinguished electrical and control engineer, boasts over two decades of experience in the power distribution industry. His journey began with Landis & Gyr, later becoming CEO at Siemens’ global Power Transmission & Distribution Service business unit and E.ON Technologies, where he oversaw innovation, design, and technical service for E.ON’s extensive assets. Donald’s academic achievements are equally impressive, with an MA from Cambridge, an MSc from Imperial College London, and a DPhil from Oxford.

As a Non-executive Director at Third Equation, Donald provides invaluable oversight, drawing from his energy sector knowledge and network. Beyond Third Equation, he channels his expertise into managing technology companies, adapting business structures to market developments, and optimizing value chains, including relocations and the establishment of new competencies.

James Brooks is an accomplished c-suite executive leader and private equity investor with a track record in the energy, resource efficiency, and tech sectors. His career has been defined by the acceleration of transformation in both growing and established businesses.

Driven by his passion for business, James is resolute in his quest to combat climate change and foster positive team dynamics. He is steadfast in his belief that true sustainability encompasses a wide spectrum of meaning.
