Third Equation has appointed former EA Technology’s Head of Network Strategy & Transformation Greg Dujon as its Chief Executive Officer.
Greg has a long history in the energy sector with 11+ years at Siemens covering global business development and M&A, and various management consulting roles in smart technologies and electricity network transformational strategies. Most recently, Greg has been leading an initiative to develop a Net Zero capital investment plan for the industrial zone of Ellesmere Port in Cheshire which consumes about 5% of the UK energy.
Greg has a PhD in electrical engineering.
Speaking on his appointment, Greg said “I am delighted to be joining the Third Equation team. It is an exciting time for technologies that enable us to achieve zero carbon, and Third Equation’s technologies have tremendous potential to positively impact that global goal.”
Donald Weir will stay on as Chair. He said, “I am very pleased that Greg will be CEO of Third Equation. He has the experience and expertise to lead the Company’s dynamic team as they bring our first range of products to market to address the challenges power networks face as they integrate ever more renewables. This is a fundamental and growing challenge for the electricity industry.”
Director and investor Mike Fitzpatrick said, “Seeing the Exchanger technology progress and the enthusiasm it is generating in the market makes for an exciting time for the CEO to join the Company as it starts to grow.”
Greg will take up the post at the beginning of January 2021.
About Third Equation Ltd
Third Equation Ltd is an IP led company, which has designed and developed advanced solutions to enable energy networks to integrate high levels of renewable generation.
Third Equation was established in 2019 to commercialise ground-breaking technology, the Exchanger, which enables:
- Autonomous, high speed, control of voltage, power factor, power quality & phase balance
= robust grid performance despite multiple volatile generation sources - Power flow managed in magnetic domain
= greater power range and higher reliability than inverter-based solutions - Measurement and reporting of grid performance and control effort
= data basis for remote diagnosis & preventative maintenance - Support network performance by remote control of set points of multiple Exchangers
= frequency support (via droop voltage) at marginal cost - Replacement of existing grid component within existing form factor
= brownfield transition of network capability in rate base
The Exchanger is currently being developed for three initial product streams:
- distribution networks
- utility solar developments
- commercial microgrids using renewables
